What's the CDIC?
The Community Development & Improvement Corporation (CDIC) is a subsidiary of the Aiken Housing Authority. The corporation, formerly know as New Labor Housing and Economic Development Corporation, was incorporated in 1996.

What is the mission of CDIC?
CDIC's mission is to facilitate the delivery and creation of housing, homeownership, and economic opportunities for low to moderate-income families.

Does CDIC have different types of programs?
The CDIC has several different programs available:
New Construction Purchase
Individual Housing Counseling
Home Buyer Education

Would I qualify for any of CDIC's Programs?

A first-time homebuyer whose income is at or below 80% of the areas median income would qualify for CDIC's Homeownership Program. Persons who meet the aforementioned requirements are eligible for down payment and closing costs assistance. Program requirements vary for each program and are subject to change without notice.

Do I need to be employed?
If you are interested in purchasing a home, you should have sufficient income to support a mortgage, whether it is income from wages or social security.

How long will it take to process my application?
Application process times vary according to application. Applicants should expect to receive notification either by phone or letter in the mail no later than 3 weeks after the application is returned.

Should I call to check on the status of my application?

If an applicant has not received notification on his/her application after three weeks, he/she is encouraged to call.

What is the Community Home Buyer Education Program?
The Community Home Buyer Education Program is a joint venture between CDIC, The City of Aiken, and Security Federal Bank, to educate prospective homebuyers on buying and maintaining a home.

Can anybody attend the Home Buyer Education Classes?
The home buyer education classes are open to the public. Seating is limited, so interested persons should sign up at the Aiken Housing Authority.

How do I take advantage of these great opportunities?
Applications are accepted at the Aiken Housing Authority, 100 Rogers Terrace, Aiken, SC 29801. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Pages 1 through 4 should be completed and the application returned to the receptionist. If the application is incomplete, it will be returned.
